One of largest Buc-ee’s travel centers is about to open south of Fort Worth

Okay, Buc-ee’s has yet to build one of its wildly popular highway stops in Oklahoma.

But one of the growing company’s latest is about to open in Hillsboro, Texas, midway between Fort Worth and Waco and along I-35. One report suggested the grand opening will be part of a once-in-a-lifetime historic event.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reported the large sign at the 74,000-square-foot travel center was raised last week. While no opening date has been set, Hillsboro city officials indicated it could be around the first of April, the date of a rare total eclipse of the sun, set for April 8. Hillsboro is one of the closest Texas cities to the path of totality.

It could attract tens if thousands of people to Hillsboro, and of course Buc-ee’s is hoping to its newest store. The new store will be one of the company’s largest and will hire 200 employees.
