A recently-announced $70 million grant from the Biden administration is expected to result in the first hydrogen fuel stations at Texas truck stops within five years.
The plan by the North Central Texas Council of Governments, which includes Dallas-Fort Worth, calls for the hydrogen stations will be located at existing truck stops within the so-called Texas Triangle of I-35, I-45 and I-10. A report by the Texas Standard indicated hydrogen-powered trucks only operate in California and some East Coast areas.
The planning agency intends to partner with private companies to install up to five of the hydrogen fuel stations at existing truck stoops.\
Lois Clark with the Council of Government said the grant will enable the agency to “jumpstart a network.”
