Hundreds to lose jobs over warehouse shutdown in Jenks

 

A major warehouse operator in Jenks announced plans to end operations in March, a move that will put 270 employees on the unemployment line.

Warehouse Specialists Inc. notified the state of its intentions as part of the WARN or Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act. The company, based in Wisconsin with facilities throughout the U.S. said it planned “to cease operations” in Jenks as of March 17.

WSI stated its “intent (is) to completely and permanently to discontinue its operations” in Jenks. The firm gave no explanation why the facility would be closed. The WSI website described the company as “one of the largest private 3PLs in the country, with over 13.6 million total square feet of warehousing. In the Midwest and East coast, 4.8 million square feet of storage is within private/ dedicated warehouse locations.”
