Crude oil recorded gains on Monday

Monday’s trading resulted in a 3% gain for U.S. crude futures and 2% overseas,largelly because of anticipated tightening of oil supplies because of the fighting in the Middle East and Ukraine along with extreme cold weather in North America.

Benchmark U.S. crude oil for February delivery rose $1.78 to $75.19 per barrel Monday.

Brent crude for March delivery rose $1.50 to $80.06 per barrel.

February natural gas fell 10 cents to $2.42 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Natural gas down 0.10 at $2.42 – change 3.97%

Trading ended up split Monday for Oklahoma energy stocks. Empire Petroleum fell 4% while Matrix Service Co. rose 3%.

Other energy stocks were also mixed for the day, per the Texas Energy Report.

Exxon Mobil (XOM) down 0.13 at 96.82 – change 0.14%
