BlackRock also maintains ownership of ONE Gas shares

BlackRock Inc., the firm banned by the state of Oklahoma from handling any state investments because of its ESG policies remains a big investor in another Oklahoma energy firm.

A filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission by ONE Gas showed BlackRock is the owner of 14.5% of the shares in the Tulsa-based firm. The New York City based BlackRock owns 8,049,308 shares in the utility.

BlackRock remains on the State Treasurer’s list of firms banned from state investments because of a state law that was created over the firm’s ESG policies that were discriminatory against the oil and gas industry.

Despite the criticism of BlackRock’s policies, the firm continues to invest in oil and gas operations in Oklahoma. A filing earlier in January indicated BlackRock also owned nearly 14% of the shares in Tulsa’s Vital Energy Inc.
