Crude oil prices in the US will have a chance to respond to Friday’s drop, an apparent reaction to Angola’s decision to pull out of OPEC raising hopes that the country could increase crude oil production. But there was also the nagging issue of the Houthi attacks on ships passing through the Red Sea.
Oklahoma energy stocks were mixed at the end of the day’s trading.
West Texas Intermediate crude, considered to be the US benchmark, dropped 33 cents or 0.5% to settle at $73.56 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude slipped 32 cents or 0.4% and closed at $79.07 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas rose 4 cents to $2.61 per 1,000 cubic feet.
We saw some mixed trading of Oklahoma energy stocks on Friday with Mach Natural Resources gaining 6% while NGL Energy Partners lost more than 4%.
Other energy stocks? Many were up at the end of Friday’s trading, according to the Texas Energy Report.
