As crude oil prices recorded slight gains in Monday’s trading, some Oklahoma energy stocks made significant gains, including a Tulsa energy company with a 15% jump for the day.
Gains in crude prices came as OPEC+ production cuts didn’t offset worries around crude oversupply in the coming year. The slight gains came after both rose more than 2% on Friday.
US benchmark, West Texas Intermediate crude rose 9 cents or 0.1% to finish at $71.32 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the benchmark considered globally, recorded a 19 cent gain or 0.3% and closed at $76.03 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas fell 15 cents to $2.43 per 1,000 cubic feet.
It was a split day for Oklahoma energy stocks, one with some surprising losses and gains. Take Unit Corporation. The Tulsa firm saw a gain of more than 15% as its shares soared by $8.56 each. PHX Minerals also recorded a more than 5% gain for the day.
