Not only did crude oil prices gain about 1% in Wednesday’s trading, it turned out to be a big day for Oklahoma energy stocks as some had gains of 6% and 8% with a handful more making 4% increases.
Oil prices rose from a five-month low following a bigger-than-expecced weekly removal from U.S. crude storage, plus there were more worries about the security of Middle East oil supplies follwing an attack on a tanker in the Red Sea.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 86 cents or 1.3% to settle at $69.47 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude gained $1.02 or 1.4% and finished the day at $74.26 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas rose 3 cents to $2.34 per 1,000 cubic feet.
What a difference a day makes—as the saying goes. It certainly did for Oklahoma energy stocks as most recorded gains….big gains for some companies.
A nearly 8% jump was recorded by Matrix Service Inc. while LSB Industries went up more than 6%. Empire Petroleum, Mammoth Energy, Sandridge Energy, Vital Energy and OG&E each had 4% gains for the day.
