While Brent and U.S. crude futures finished Friday with a small loss, Oklahoma energy stocks did the same.
Crude fell during a session where prices dropped more than $1 a barrel as traders dealt with mixed signals for oil demand.
West Texas Intermediate finished down 15 cents or 0.21% to $71.43 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global benchmark closed 6 cents down or 0.08% at $76.55 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
During Friday’s trading, the market reacted after a manufacturing survey by the New York Federal Reserve Bank showed a third month of drops in new orders.
January natural gas rose 10 cents to $2.49 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks experienced some losses as well, the largest being a more than 4% fall for Mach Natural Resources.
On a bright spot, NGL Energy Partners gained 6%.
