The Houthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea resulted in still another gain in crude oil prices on Tuesday. Oil prices went up more than a dollar a barrel as the attacks disrupted maritime trade and caused more companies to reroute their vessels.
West Texas Intermediate, the US benchmark, rose 97 cents or 1.3% to finish at $73.44 a barrel, the highest in more than two weeks on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude futures went up $1.28 or 1.6% and closed at $79.23 a baarrel on ICE Futures Europe. It was the highest mark since Dec.1.
January natural gas fell 1 cent to $2.49 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Tuesday resulted in 1% to 2% gains for the majority of Oklahoma energy stocks. PHX Minerals had the biggest jump in stock value at 3%.
