The Red Sea attacks by Yemini Houthi on martime ships resulted in a pause on BP shipments of oil, resulting in a gain in crude oil prices Monday. At the same time, most Oklahoma energy stocks also saw increases in the value of their shares.
What resulted was a gain of $1.04 or 1.46% to $72.47 a barrel for West Texas Intermediate crude on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude rose $1.40 or 1.83% to $77.95 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas rose 1 cent to $2.50 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains ranging from 1% to 2% for the day, with the exception of NGL Energy Partners which had a more than 5% gain for the day.
Other energy stocks also recorded gains for the day, according to the Texas Energy Report.
