Wyoming legislators propose millions to fight BLM

Wyoming is ready to do battle with the Biden administration over its plan to put hundreds of thousands of acres of land off limits.

Or at least, some Wyoming legislators are. Members of a legislative committee approved a draft bill this week to dedicate $50 million to fight the Bureau of Land Management’s Rock Springs Resource Management Plan (RMP).

Rock Springs Republican Sen. John Kolb raised the issue, saying the BLM’s plan would lead to billions of dollars in possible lost revenue for the state.

“It’s the future of Wyoming, it’s the future of my kids and grandkids, that’s what this money is there to fight,” he said during the Agriculture, State and Public Land and Water Resources Committee’s Monday meeting in Laramie. “If it’s more money that’s needed, I’m perfectly happy to put more money toward it to fight this battle.”
