Monday’s trading resulted in a 1% gain for crude oil prices following an OPEC monthly market report and worries about declining demand in the U.S. and China. The OPEC report stated that oil market fundamentals continued their strength and predicted a slight increase to this year’s forecast for global oil demand growth.
Some Oklahoma energy stocks had strong gains with at least one Tulsa company recording a boost of 10% in the value of its stock.
West Texas Intermediate crude went up $1 or 1.3% to $78.17 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global standard, increased $1 or 1.2% to settle at $82.43 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
Natural gas closed up 6.56% on a 20 cent gain to finish at $3.23.
While there was mix of gains and losses by Oklahoma energy stocks, at least one, Empire Petroleum, reported a 10% gain for the day and PHX Minerals increased by 4%.
