When the Garfield County Commission held a meeting on Monday to consider a NextEra Energy Resources solar farm, members were greeted by nearly 100 protesters.
Yes, they were against the Skeleton Creek Project to be located southeast of the city of Enid. As a result of the large crowd, the meeting had to be moved to a nearby county courtroom.
As proposed by NextEra, the project would be about 5 miles southeast of the city of Enid. It is considered the next phase of Skeleton Creek and already involves a wind farm but a 250-megawatt solar energy farm and a 200-megawatt battery storage operation are also proposed.
