Six week long hearing by Iowa regulators is underway involving carbon dioxide pipeline

Anyone who thought a three-day hearing last spring before an Oklahoma Corporation Commission Administrative Law Judge was a long time should think again. Iowa regulators have started a hearing into a carbon dioxide pipeline project that could last six weeks! Maybe longer.

The hearing began Tuesday to determine if Summit Carbon Solutions should get a permit. At the heart of the issue is the use of eminent domain on 950 parcels of land. Some involved in the issue say it might not end until January 2024.
