A steep drawdown in U.S. fuel stockpiles along with Saudi and Russian output cuts led to new peaks for oil prices on Wednesday.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, reached its highest since January, setting up $1.38 or 1.6% at 487.55 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. It was the highest level since Jan. 27.
U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate crude, closed up $1.48 or 1.8% at 484.40 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange….the highest since November 2022.
September natural gas rose 18 cents to $2.96 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded moderate gains in Wednesday’s trading but two firms, Gulfport Energy Corp. and Vital Energy Inc. each had gains of 4%.
