Thursday saw lower crude oil prices and Oklahoma energy stocks recording moderate losses and many blamed China’s fall into deflation and growing concerns about fuel demand from the world’s second-largest economy.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped $1.58 or 1.9% to settle at $82.82 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, fell $1.15 or 1.3% to finish the day at $86.40 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. Brent still held close to January highs and both benchmarks had been on a rally since June.
September natural gas fell 20 cents to $2.76 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks experienced losses for the day with NGL Energy Partners falling 7% and Chesapeake Energy sliding 3%.
Many other energy stocks were down, according to the Texas Energy Report.
