While crude oil prices rose nearly 2% on Friday, recording a fourth consecutive weekly gain, Oklahoma energy stocks mostly recorded gains for the day.
Prices made gains because of growing evidence of supply shortages in the near future.
West Texas Intermediate crude, the U.S. benchmark, rose $1.42 or 1.9% to finish at $77.07 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It was the highest since April 25 as WTI recorded a 2% gain forthe week.
Global benchmark Brent crude recorded a $1.43 or 1.8% gain on Friday, settling at $81.07 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. It came to a weekly gain of 1.2%.
August natural gas fell 5 cents to $2.71 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks ended the week in mixed trading with some recording gains of 3%.
