Thursday’s trading brought about a 3% gain for crude oil prices as they reached a one-week high and also resulted in 4% gains for Oklahoma energy stocks.
The weaker U.S. dollar and a jump in refinery runs in top crude importer China were responsible for the increased oil prices.
West Texas Intermediate crude, the U.S. benchmark, increased $2.35 or 3.4% per barrel to close at $70.62 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude saw a gain of $2.47 or 3.4% per barrel and finished at $75.67 on ICE Futures Europe.
Both had their highest closes since June 8.
