Crude oil prices on Monday did just what top exporter Saudi Arabia wanted when it cut production by another 1 million barrels a day beginning in July.
They went up with West Texas Intermediate crude going up 41 cents to $72.15 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. It reached a high of $75.06 before closing lower for the day.
Global benchmark Brent crude gained 58 cents and finished the day at $76.61 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
July natural gas rose 8 cents to $2.25 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The moderate gains made by crude oil left Oklahoma energy stocks mixed for the day. Some recorded losses of 2% while others made gains of 2% for the day.
Vital Energy recorded the biggest loss of the day at 2.46% while the largest gain was 2.30% by Matrix Service Inc.
