Crude oil prices and Oklahoma energy stocks settled higher Friday but crude also posted its fourth straight quarterly loss. Investors were still worried that sluggish global economic activity will slow fuel demand.
U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate crude rose 78 cents or 1.1% per barrel and finished at $70.64 on the New York Mercantile Exchange. WTI also posted its second straight quarterly drop or about 6.5% in the past three months.
Brent crude, the global benchmark, saw its August delivery expire on Friday and settled up 56 cents or 0.8% at $74.90 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe. Brent finished down 6% in the three months to the end of June.
Natural gas gained 8 cents or 2.81% to finish at $2.78.
Friday was another “up” day for most Oklahoma energy stocks with Empire Petroleum gaining more than 7% and Matrix Service Company seeing a 5% boost for the day.

The Texas Energy Report showed most other energy stocks recorded gains for the day.
