Crude oil and Oklahoma energy stocks recorded a strong trading day on Friday as crude prices rose 2% while stocks rose 5, 6 and 7% in some local cases.
Crude went up after Congress passed the debt ceiling deal that averted a government default.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 2.3% or $1.64 to close at $71.74 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude went up 2.5% or $1.85 and finished at $76.13 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe
Natural gas up 0.01 at $2.17 – change 0.65%
Friday was a strong day in trading for Oklahoma energy stocks as Empire Petroleum and Mammoth Energy Services each went up nearly 7%.
