Some parts of Oklahoma remain dry

Boom or bust—that’s how State Climatologist Gary McManus with the Oklahoma Mesonet describes the recent rainfall…or lack of it in the state.

After a weekend of heavy rainfall, at least in central Oklahoma, McManus described the past week as a “big bust” in northwest Oklahoma, the Panhandle, the southwest, south central and east central.

“Other areas in between gauges received radar-indicated totals of 4-6 inches, if not higher. And that’s the nature of our convective systems. Areas where the storms trained over the same area again and again dealt with flooding. But it remains in places like Madill, Putnam, Seiling, Camargo, etc., not nearly enough,” wrote McManus in his Monday morning Mesonet update.
