Not only did crude oil prices tumble Thursday but so did Oklahoma energy stocks with some falling 6% and 7% for the day.
Crude took a hit after Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak played down any prospects of more OPEC+ production cuts at the meeting scheduled for next week.
U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate cruder settled down $2.51 per barrel or 3.4% to $71.83 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude dropped $2.10 or 2.7% per barrel and closed at $76.25 on ICE Futures Europe.
June natural gas fell 9 cents to $2.31 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Thursday proved to be a weak day in trading for Oklahoma energy stocks, a scene where SandRidge Energy dropped 6%, Empire Petroleum nearly 7%, Devon Energy and Mammoth Energy each down about 4%.
