Crude oil rose slightly on Friday, prior to the start of the Memorial Day holiday and did so because of confusion from Russia and Saudi Arabia ahead of the coming OPEC+ policy meeting.
West Texas Intermediate crude rose 84 cents or 1.2% to close at $72.67 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude managed a 69 cent gain or 0.9% and finished at $76.95 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
June natural gas fell 13 cents to $2.18 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks were weak and mixed with Chesapeake Energy falling about 2% and the same for Coterra Energy. But Empire Petroleum made a 2% gain for the day and NGL Energy Partners rose slightly more than 2%.
