OGE restores power to 93% of those who lost power in recent tornadoes

Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported Monday that an estimated 93% of the 23,000 customers who lost electrical power following last Wednesday’s tornadoes had their power restored.

In a storm update, the utility explained that it had more than 2,800 OG&E personnel working overnight and early this week in the Shawnee area to repair more than 600 broken power poles.

In addition, 10 damaged transmission structures, cross arms and other equipment attached to the poles had to be repaired or replaced.

At least 13 tornadoes were reported last Wednesday night in the state. Three persons were killed by a tornado that severely damaged the small town of Cole in McClain County.
