Crude oil prices settled lower on Friday by more than 2%, reversing gains made earlier in the day. Oklahoma energy stocks also suffered losses in the day’s trading.
Analysts blamed banking sector fears for both Brent crude and WTI to reach their biggest weekly declines in months.
West Texas Intermediate crude fell $1.61 a barrel or 2.4% to close at $66.74 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude dropped $1.73 or 2.3% and finished the day at $72.97 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
April natural gas fell 17 cents to $2.34 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Friday turned out to be a weak day of trading for Oklahoma energy stocks. Mammoth Energy suffered a 9% loss and PHX Minerals dropped 4%.
