Crude oil prices slid more than $3 a barrel in Wednesday’s session after U.S. .government data showed still more big increases in crude oil, gasoline and distillate inventories. At the same time, Oklahoma energy stocks suffered losses.
West Texas Intermediate crude dropped 3.1% on a $2.46 fall per barrel to $76.41 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude also fell 3.1% on a $2.46 per barrel slide to $82.84 on ICE Futures Europe.
March natural gas fell 21 cents to $2.47 per 1,000 cubic feet.
More Oklahoma energy stocks fell than gained in Wednesday’s trading. Gulfport Energy dropped more than 5% and Helmerich & Payne tumbled nearly 4%. A lone positive standout was Matrix Service Co. with a more than 6% gain.
It proved to also be a down day for most other energy stocks, according to the Texas Energy Report.
