While crude oil prices dropped 1% in Monday’s trading, largely because of growing worries about more interest rate hikes from the Federal Reserve, Oklahoma energy stocks split between losses and gains.
If the Fed indeed raises interest rates again, it could slow economic growth and oil demand.
West Texas Intermediate crude fell 64 cents or just less than 1% to settle at $75.68 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent futures took a similar 1% slide on a 71-cent drop to settle at $82.45 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
April natural gas rose 18 cents to $2.73 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Take your pick in describing whether Oklahoma energy stocks had an up day or a down day. About half of the ones we follow recorded gains and the other half experienced losses.
NGL Energy Corporation had the biggest gain at 11.5% while the biggest loss of the day was the 4% slide for Chesapeake Energy.
