Enverus data shows nationwide loss of oil and gas rigs

The latest Enverus rig report showed a decline in the Anadarko Basin, contributing to the loss of at least 10 rigs nationwide in the past week.

The U.S. count fell by 10 to 843 during the week ended Feb. 15 according to Enverus Foundations data.

The count is down 4% last month and up 12% YOY. All numbers discussed are weekly peaks to avoid the sometimes wide variability of daily numbers.

In the last week, the Permian count increased by three rigs to 339, while the Williston Basin rose by one to 41. Appalachia was flat at 55.

The Anadarko and DJ basins fell by three each to 68 and 19 rigs, and the Gulf Coast was down by two rigs at 109.

After hitting a three-year-plus high of 91 rigs in early December, the Anadarko Basin’s count has been on a downward slide and is now one rig below its year-ago level. The 41 operators drilling rigs in the basin this week is 16 fewer than at the time of that December high
