Marathon Oil hits big producer in south central Oklahoma

A Marathon Oil Company well located 5 miles south of the city of Lindsay in Garvin County produced more than 1,700 barrels of oil a day when completed last spring.

Marathon filed the completion report this week on the Hard Knox 0304 1-3-34sxh located at 9 3N 4W. Production totaled 1,728 barrels of oil a day along with 1,155 Mfc of natural gas. Drilled depth was 22,383 feet in the Goddard formation and the completion report showed the well had been spudded in January of 2022.

Ovintiv filed a completion report on a second Bohlman well drilled at 3 13N 7W in Canadian County. The site is about 5 miles north of El Reno and the Bohlman 1407 4h-34x, completed in July of 2022 produced 1,129 barrels of oil a day and 1,214 Mcf of natural gas. Drilled depth was 19,951 feet and the completion report showed a spudding in February of 2022.

The first Bohlman well as filed last week by Ovintiv had production of 726 barrels of oil a day and 1,147 Mcf of natural gas. The combined oil production was 1,855 barrels a day.
