Crude prices made gains after federal holiday in the US

Crude oil prices rose on Tuesday while Oklahoma energy stocks lingered in the loss column.

The increase in crude prices came after China posted weak but expectation-beating annual economic growth data.

West Texas Intermediate crude managed a 32 cent increase or 0.4% to settle at $80.18 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude jumped $1.46 a barrel or 1.7% and closed at $85.92 on ICE Futures Europe.

February natural gas rose 17 cents to $3.59 per 1,000 cubic feet.

Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded losses in Tuesday’s trading. However, Empire Petroleum was the bright spot with a more than 5% gain for the day.

Many other energy stocks recorded losses according to the Texas Energy Report.
