Colorado utility bills soar while regulators admit they’re helpless

 

“I can’t remember seeing this level of pain in the consumer community since the 1970s .”

It’s what Colorado Public Utility Commissioner John Gavan said recently about the spiking energy bills in his state. He admits there isn’t much his state agency can do about it because colder weather and higher gas prices are behind the large increase in utility bills—100% more in some cases reported the Colorado Sun.
