Canadian pipe manufacturer acquires plant in Enid

Bri-Steel to Build Thermal Pipe Expansion Mill in Oklahoma

Canadian-based Bri-Steel Manufacturing announced recently an expansion of operations to Enid, Oklahoma.

Considered to be a leading North American manufacturer of large diameter seamless steel pipe, the company said it would build its second North American Thermal Pipe Expansion mill in the northern Oklahoma city

Bri-Steel acquired the former GEFCO facility in Enid, a facility that is approximately 329,000 square feet with over 43 acres of land. This facility has enough infrastructure for future expansion and provides the company with multiple options to produce a hyper-efficient factory that can survive even the worst of times.

The Bri-Steel team has completed the equipment layout and has started to procure the manufacturing equipment for the plant. The new equipment will be the latest technology to improve on industry-leading quality products. Renovations and pre-commissioning work is expected to begin in the next few months using local industry and trades people.

The plant will produce seamless pipe in sizes 12″-36″ in wall thickness up to 3″ thick. Bri-Steel will make Carbon Steel and Alloy Steel pipes. With the flexibility of this facility, BriSteel plans to explore higher-yield piping in the coming year. Bri-Steel will produce to all major industry standards and will continue with their API Q1 quality system. Bri-Steel will apply, upon commissioning, to expand on its American Petroleum Institute (API) Monogram program to include the Enid location. The company will employ between 50 and 100 people once in full production. Hiring shall begin in Q3, and production should start late Q4.

“We have had such positive feedback from the people in Enid, and the State officials have been excellent to deal with. We are excited to bring back 12″ and larger seamless pipe manufacturing to the USA and to fill the void left behind by US Steel. This is a true Southern Expansion!” said Neil Rasmussen, President of Bri-Steel.
