Bice says congress must halt Biden’s anti-American energy agenda

Rep. Bice, Other Delegates Working On National Paid Family Leave Bill

In a message she called “Welcome to the Republican Majority,” Oklahoma congresswoman Stephanie Bice called for an end to what she said was President Biden’s anti-American energy agenda.

Her call came in a letter to constituents in which she said it was also time to resume energy production in states like Oklahoma. Rep. Bice charged there has been wasteful government spending, and dependence on foreign adversaries for critical energy under the Biden administration.

“His actions have led to higher gas prices and record costs to heat your homes this winter. We must conduct oversight into why Biden has approved the lowest amount of leasing acreage on federal lands and waters since WWII and why he allowed American crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to go to China.”

Bice, sworn in last week for her second term in the House said it was clear the 117th Congress, under the leadership of the Democrats was a failure.

“The result of the 117th Congress is record high inflation and gas prices, a wide-open border, and weakness on the world stage. That changes now. I look forward to continuing to fight for the issues important to my fellow Oklahomans.”

The congresswoman said under Republican leadership, it will change.

Her entire message follows:

Last week, the American people saw Democracy at work. Although it can be messy sometimes, that is how our nation’s founders intended Congress to function. We emerged with a strong Speaker of the House and a rules package without concessions, but with great conservative wins. I voted each time for Kevin McCarthy because he is best prepared to lead the Republican majority. Oklahomans elected me to provide a check and balance on the Biden Administration and to find solutions to the numerous problems facing our nation, and I’m committed to doing just that.

This week is the start of the 118th Congress, and my Republican colleagues and I are ready to get to work. With control of the House, we now can put an end to the reckless agenda of House Democrats and Nancy Pelosi. We will lead committees, bring meaningful legislation to the House floor, and restore normal order where legislation must proceed through committees and be debated. We will fully reopen the People’s House so constituents can once again effectively exercise their constitutional rights. Republicans are determined to create a nation that’s safe, an economy that’s strong, a future that’s built on freedom, and a government that’s accountable. As we saw in November, Americans elected Republicans to lead the U.S. House of Representatives. House Republicans are committed to pumping the brakes on the Biden Agenda, finding solutions to the disastrous, Democrat-driven crises

Our country is experiencing a dangerous border crisis, 40-year high costs of daily needs, wasteful government spending, and dependence on foreign adversaries for critical energy. When it comes to energy, we must halt Biden’s anti-American energy agenda and resume production in states like Oklahoma. His actions have led to higher gas prices and record costs to heat your homes this winter. We must conduct oversight into why Biden has approved the lowest amount of leasing acreage on federal lands and waters since WWII and why he allowed American crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve to go to China. On the southern border, we must provide relief to our Customs and Border Patrol Agents. Since Biden took office, over 4.5 million illegal immigrants have been apprehended at our southern border. We must fully fund effective border enforcement strategies including infrastructure, and advanced technologies to prevent illegal crossings and trafficking by the cartels. I also remain focused on combatting America’s fentanyl epidemic which has only gotten worse under the open border policies of Joe Biden. Enough fentanyl has been seized at the border to kill every American almost thirteen times over. Sadly, we have no way to determine how much fentanyl has escaped unnoticed into our communities. Once again, oversight will be critically important in holding Biden and Secretary Mayorkas accountable for their failures.

Although the House is now majority Republicans, it’s important to note that we still have a Democrat-controlled Senate and White House. This means we will also need to find common ground and work in a bipartisan fashion to solve issues as well. For example, workforce shortages have been an issue all industries are experiencing across the country, especially in Oklahoma’s Fifth District. Therefore, I established the bipartisan Paid Family Leave working group. This group will look at ways to expand paid family leave, lower childcare costs, and increase women in the workforce. This is an issue that everyone can relate to, and I look forward to finding bipartisan solutions that will strengthen our economy, businesses, and American families.

Overall, it’s of utmost importance that we operate in the best interest of the American people. The result of the 117th Congress is record high inflation and gas prices, a wide-open border, and weakness on the world stage. That changes now. I look forward to continuing to fight for the issues important to my fellow Oklahomans.
