Study says removal of coal-fired plants puts US at risk this winter

 

A new study says much of the nation’s bulk power system is “at risk” of not having enough energy supplies during severe weather this winter–because of the removal of coal and natural gas-fired electrical generation.

The claim is made by the North American Energy Reliability Corp. puts the blame on the elimination or closure of 4.2 gigawatts in nuclear and coal-fired generation capacity since last winter reported Cowboy State Daily.
