What happened Friday on global markets not only fueled growing worries of an approaching recession, but sent crude oil prices down more than $2 a barrel.
West Texas Intermediate crude for January delivery dropped 2.4% or $1.82 to settle at $74.29 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for delivery in February fell $2.17 or 2.4% to finish at $79.04 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
January natural gas fell 37 cents to $6.60 per 1,000 cubic feet.
The trading setback on Friday resulted in losses for most Oklahoma energy stocks. Some were exceptions including NGL Energy Partners with a more than 8% gain and Mammoth Energy at nearly 5%.
Other energy stocks in the region recorded losses according to the Texas Energy Report.
