Crude oil prices on Friday ended the week with a drop in prices, mostly due to action by China to widen its COVID-19 curbs. At the same time, most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains including a more than 6% boost for Mammoth Energy.
The U.S. benchmark, West Texas Intermediate crude for December delivery dropped $1.18 or 1.3% a barrel to $87.90 on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude, also for December delivery settled down 1.2% or $1.19 a barrel to $95.77 on ICE Futures Europe.
U.S. gasoline futures dropped about 3%, while U.S. diesel futures rose about 5% to their highest since mid June.
December natural gas fell 20 cents to $5.68 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Most Oklahoma energy stocks recorded gains in Friday’s trading including a more than 6% increase for Mammoth Energy Services and about 5% for NGL Energy Partners.
Friday’s trading proved to be something of a tough day for some other energy stocks. National Oilwell Varco dropped nearly 5% according to the Texas Energy Report.
