As oil prices rebounded 4% on Friday, Oklahoma energy stocks also had a strong day with some firms recording gains of 5%. The price increases came after threats were made to cut crude oil supply worldwide.
West Texas Intermediate crude oil for October delivery rose $3.25 or nearly 4% to $86.79 a barrel Friday on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for November delivery rose $3.69 or about 4% to $92.84 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
October natural gas rose 1% or 8 cents to $8 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Oklahoma energy stocks recorded strong gains on Friday including a 5% jump for Helmerich & Payne and a nearly 5% increase for Laredo Petroleum.
