Someone’s celebrating on Wall Street.
After dropping to a 7-month low on Wednesday, crude oil prices managed a 1% improvement Thursday following threats by Russia to halt oil and gas exports. The day also left Oklahoma energy stocks with a mix of gains and losses.
West Texas Intermediate crude for October delivery rose $1.60 or about 2% to 483.54 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for November delivery went up less than 1% or $1.15 and settled at $89.15 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
October natural gas rose 8 cents or about 1% to $7.92 per 1,000 cubic feet.
A mix of gains and losses was recorded by Oklahoma energy stocks. The biggest gain of the day was about 3% for Chesapeake Energy while 3% also happened to be the biggest loss of the day recorded by Williams.
