The pounding heat across Oklahoma, Texas and other states prompted ERCOT, the Texas grid operator to issue a warning and at the same time ask electricity users to turn up their thermostats.

The notice went out late Sunday and ERCOT asked its large electric customers to lower their electricity use reported the Texas Tribune.
