Concerns that major central banks in the U.S. might hike interest rates and slow the world economy sent crude oil prices on Friday tumbling nearly 6% to a four-week low. It also was a sore day for Oklahoma energy stocks as some slid by 10%.
Now the question is, whether prices and the energy stocks can rebound following the national holiday on Monday.
July natural gas fell 52 cents or 7% to $6.94 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Friday’s plunge in oil prices translated into major losses for some Oklahoma energy stocks including 10% drops for Empire Petroleum and PHX Minerals followed by 8 and 9% slides for Devon Energy, Gulfport Energy, Laredo Petroleum, and SandRidge Energy.
