Oil ended higher in Tuesday’s trading after COVID-19 restrictions and lockdowns in Shanghai were eased. At least one Oklahoma energy company saw shares shoot up nearly 20% for the day.
West Texas Intermediate crude for July delivery bounced back from a slight loss on Tuesday and rose 59 cents to settle at $115.26 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for August delivery managed a 69-cent increase and finished the day at $116.29 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
July natural gas rose 55 cents or nearly 7% to $8.70 per 1,000 cubic feet.
If an Oklahoma energy stock had an outstanding day Wednesday, It was Laredo Petroleum. The company reported a nearly 20% gain for the day as shares settled at more than $100 each.
