Diesel fuel costs in Oklahoma continue to increase, reaching a new statewide average this week of $5.28 a gallon. The average is still cheaper than the national average of $5.55 a gallon.

Triple A reported Wednesday the new average was two cent more than one week ago. A year ago, the statewide average for diesel fuel was $2.91.

Prices in Oklahoma average $5.27 this week, up 5 cents from a week ago while one year ago, the average was only $2.86.

In Tulsa, the average price for a gallon of diesel fuel is $5.30 a gallon, a drop of 7 cents from a week earlier. A year ago, it cost an average of $2.95 a gallon.

Truckers on the heavily-traveled Interstate 40 won’t find much relief on either end of the state. In Sayre, prices ranged from $5.27 to $5.35 a gallon.

In Sallisaw on the state line with Arkansas, the average was $5.38 on Wednesday, 9 cents higher than a week ago.

Nationwide prices rose 13 cents in the past week reaching the new average of $5.55 a gallon. A year ago, truckers paid an average of $3.12.
