The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday, in a 5-4 split, revived a Trump-era rule intended to fast-track big energy projects by limiting the power of states to curtail the projects under the Clean Water Act.

The court ruling came in a challenge filed by Louisiana and seven other Republican-led states, Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, West Virginia, Wyoming and Texas.
