States Take on Long-term Liability for Carbon Storage

 

With the growth of more projects involving underground storage of carbon dioxide, there’s also a movement toward who to hold for liability and accountability in years to come.

At least four states have passed laws over the last year that allow companies to transfer responsibility for carbon storage projects to state governments after the operations are shut down reported Inside Climate News.
