This is the week that Devon Energy’s Richard Muncrief is to join other oil and gas industry leaders in facing the heat from Democrats on the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

The Democrats plan a Wednesday morning hearing entitled “Gouged at the Gas Station: Big Oil and America’s Pain at the Pump,” a hearing at which a lot of fingers will be pointed.

Muncrief is to be joined by David Lawler of BP America; Michael Wirth of Chevron; Darren Woods of ExxonMobil; Scott Sheffield of Pioneer Natural Resources Company; Gretchen Watkins of Shell USA; and LTG H.R. McMaster, Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution.

The hearing will also present a platform for Republican members on the committee to make their case to blame President Biden and his energy policy for gouging customers at the pumps.

While Biden continues to blame Russian leader Putin for increased gasoline prices, Republicans point out that prices rose dramatically long before Putin’s forces invaded Ukraine and went to war.

Those price hikes led to the popular “I did that” sticker seen on fuel pumps across the couontry.

The hearing will begin at 9:30 a.m. Central Time and be offered live over Youtube.
