Crude oil prices rose 4% on Wednesday and hit a 2-week high even as U.S. crude inventories grew. The jump came as global markets are set to lose more Russian oil.
West Texas Intermediate crude for May delivery went up $3.65 and settled at $104.25 a barrel in trading on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Global benchmark Brent crude for June delivery settled up $4.14 at $108.78 a barrel on ICE Futures Europe.
It was also a strong day for natural gas trading as May deliveries increased 32 cents to close at $7 per 1,000 cubic feet.
Strong gains were recorded Wednesday by a number of Oklahoma energy stocks including a more than 10% jump for PHX Minerals, 9% for Mammoth Energy Services and 7% for SandRidge Energy.
