Baker Hughes reports increased rig counts in US and Oklahoma

Rig activity on hold in Oklahoma but growing nationwide – Oklahoma Energy  Today

 

The number of oil and gas rigs in Oklahoma and the U.S. grew in the past week according to the Baker Hughes rig count that was released a day earlier than normal because of the Easter Holiday and Good Friday.

Oklahoma’s county increased by one to a total of 51 working rigs. Nationally, Baker Hughes reported an increase of 4 rigs to a total of 693. The gain included an addition of 2 oil rigs for a total of 548 while the number of gas rigs increased 2 to 143.

The increase in the past week put the U.S. county 254 more than the 439 rigs reported one year ago including 204 more oil rigs and 49 more gas rigs.

Canada’s rig count dropped by 8 in the past week, leaving 103 active rigs.

Texas saw a gain of 4 rigs to reach 346 while New Mexico dropped one to 95 and North Dakota was unchanged at 33 rigs.

The Red Top Rig Report in Kansas reported a gain of 3 to reach 46 rigs while Colorado stayed at 15 and Louisiana saw a drop of one to 56 rigs.

Ohio was unchanged at 12 rigs while Pennsylvania slipped by two to 23. West Virginia increased two to 14 and Wyoming continued with 16 working rigs.

Oil drilling slows on falling prices

The Permian Basin gained two rigs to reach a total of 334 while the Haynesville was unchanged at 67 rigs and the Eagle Ford picked up 3 to reach 60.

The Ardmore Woodford stayed at only one rig while the Arkoma Woodford continued with two rigs and the Cana Woodford added one for a total of 26 rigs.

The D-J Basin was unchanged at 15 working rigs and the Granite Wash stayed at four rigs. The Marcellus continued with 37 while the Mississippian stayed at one rig. The Utica was unchanged at 12 rigs and the Williston Basin continued with 34 rigs.
