US crude back up to $112 while OK energy stocks improved too

Oil Prices Hit Record Highs | Scottsdale Bullion & Coin

 

While European nations disagreed Monday whether to join the U.S. in a Russian oil embargo over its invasion of Ukraine, crude oil futures rose more than 7% in trading. Prices settled in the $112 to $115 range.

West Texas Intermediate crude for April delivery rose $7.42 and settled at $112.12 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Global benchmark Brent crude for May delivery finished at $115.62 a barrel after rising $7.69 on ICE Futures Europe.

April natural gas rose 4 cents $4.90 per 1,000 cubic feet.

European Union governments will decide this week whether to join the U.S. in an oil embargo against Russia over its war against Ukraine. The decision will occur as President Biden plans to hold a series of summits in Europe on Friday.

Monday was a day of improved earnings for Oklahoma energy stocks. Some, such as SandRidge Energy and Ovintiv saw gains of nearly 6% while 5% gains were recorded by Continental Resources and Devon Energy.
